Patrick Vieira endured a miserable return to England as his Nice side were thrashed 6-1 by Burnley in pre-season.

But as good as the Premier League outfit were, Vieira’s side were not at the races whatsoever, falling 4-0 behind after just 32 minutes.

The Clarets opened the scoring inside two minutes on Tuesday thanks to Wood, who was given all the time in the world to turn and poke the ball home from six yards.
The New Zealand striker then doubled his and Burnley’s tally in the eighth minute, slotting home from close range after Johann Berg Gudmundsson squared the ball to his team-mate.
More suspect defending from the French side ensured Burnley went three ahead just after the 15-minute mark, with Jeff Hendrick finding himself in plenty of space to take a touch before firing home following a flick down from Ben Mee.
The humiliation continued for Vieira in England as it was soon four for Burnley through Gudmundsson.
The Icelandic winger’s shot from 20 yards out nestled into the net past Nice goalkeeper Yoan Cardinale, who should have done better.
Jay Rodriguez marked his return to Turf Moor with a goal for the Clarets against the Ligue 1 side

Thankfully for Nice the half-time whistle came but it didn’t get much better for them in the second half.
They found themselves 5-0 behind just 15 minutes after the break, with Wood claiming his hat-trick after more sloppy defending.
The 27-year-old slammed home from 15 yards after Christophe Herelle inexplicably chipped the ball straight into his path.
Nice did manage to find a goal of their own through Newcastle target Allan Saint-Maximin, who helped the ball over the line after Joe Hart could only parry an earlier effort.

But a fine night was capped off in style for the Clarets when Jay Rodriguez, who re-signed for the club after seven years away, put the icing on the cake.
After coming on as a substitute in the 69th minute, Rodriguez converted Matt Lowton’s volleyed cross in the closing stages.
The result will definitely have satisfied Dyche but he knows much tougher contests lie in store when the Premier League gets underway next weekend.
After a final friendly at home against Parma, the Clarets begin their campaign against Southampton at Turf Moor on August 10.
