This is the fearless man who has been dubbed the real-life Crocodile Dundee.

Aussie Matt Wright works as a “wrangler” relocating dangerous animals from areas where they might pose a risk to people.

And he loves wildlife so much he sleeps just metres away from a nine-foot croc.

Matt, 40, also has seven pet pythons.

Through his job he has suffered a range of injuries including broken ankles and nasty bites. But he said: “I know how to deal with them so there isn’t any danger. I’ve still got all my limbs!

“I’ve worked with wildlife for years so I understand animals and I respect them.

“I found my croc when I was working in Melbourne and decided to take her home. She is only nine-foot so she’s pretty small. And she’s placid.

“I also have snakes including a 14ft python.”

Having dangerous animals living at home can sometimes be a problem.

Matt added: “The snakes have got out a fair bit in the past.

“One got into the bedroom and my wife woke up with it on her chest. There was a bit of a scream.

“It wasn’t going to do anything… it was just cruising around. It was just going to go past. So I just told her to go back to sleep. Now she wants the snakes out of the house. We’ve got a new baby boy and she is a bit worried that if a snake gets out again he’ll get eaten. But he won’t…he’s getting bigger now.”

Matt has been at one with nature since he was a kid in Adelaide.

He was wrestling poisonous snakes when he was just 10.

And now he has found his dream job.

Over the years Matt has come face to face with bears, wolves, elephants, rhinos, spiders, wild buffalo and polar bears.

He said: “My job is to round up wildlife that are in areas where they’re causing problems because they’re near livestock or kids. I go in and move them.

“I travel the world solving problems where there is conflict between humans and animals.”

Over the years he has suffered a string of injuries that would put most people off the job for life.

He has often been compared to Paul Hogan’s character in 1986 movie hit Crocodile Dundee – the action comedy set in the Australian Outback and in New York.

Matt said: “When I was a kid I used to catch deadly snakes. One time I was at the vet and I grabbed one out of a bag and it locked its mouth on to my face.

“Its teeth got stuck in my face. Then last year a crocodile hit me with its tail and broke my ankle.

“But the worst injury I ever had was from a horse rolling on to me. I snapped my ankle and all my toes.

“That did me the most damage.

“I can’t really get proper insurance for the work I do. They let me have life insurance, but I can’t get it for loss of a limb or disability.

“They think, ‘With this bloke something is going to go wrong eventually!’.”

Matt’s job led to him landing his own TV show called Monster Croc Wrangler.

Since being launched in 2011 it has been shown in 85 different countries. It’s back for a fourth series on October 15 at 8pm on Nat Geo Wild.
